EDUCATION

The Nebraska Association of Mortgage Brokers (NEAMB) believes that education is key to our success as an industry. With recent changes in national regulation, education will soon be mandated nationally. To serve this need, NEAMB has established an Education Committee whose primary role is to establish, develop and present industry courses that will not only serve the on-going needs and desires of the mortgage broker community, but provide required continuing education as required by applicable law.

The Education Committee is chaired by Chuck Sederstrom and co-chaired by Brent Rasmussen. Current members also include Matt Fuller, Holly Schneidewind, Tad Volmer, Bruce Ericksen and Sarah Stone. To date, three members have attended and passed the necessary course offered by NAMB (NAMBits) so as to be state instructors of NAMB approved courses. These three instructors are Matt Fuller, Brent Rasmussen and Chuck Sederstrom. The intent is to have these instructors provide as many NAMB approved courses as possible. We are also looking for more members that desire to take the necessary steps to become a NAMB instructor.

For more information on becoming a NAMB instructor, contact Chuck Sederstrom (402-502-6501), Matt Fuller (402-466-1401) or Brent Rasmussen (402-991-5153). In addition, the committee has scheduled classes with NAMB national instructors.

NAMB CERTIFICATIONS

For the first time, homebuyers have a simple way to assess the ethical practices, experience and knowledge of a mortgage professional. It’s called the Lending Integrity Seal of Approval and those who display it have pledged to adhere to a strict code of ethics, are required to complete continuing education courses and have passed thorough criminal background checks. The Lending Integrity Seal of Approval is a sign that every mortgage borrower should look for when seeking a new loan. It is a trademark of quality service supported by the National Association of Mortgage Brokers and Nebraska Association of Mortgage
Brokers.

NAMB established the GMA®, CRMS®, and CMC® certification exams to provide individuals with an opportunity to be recognized as leaders within the increasingly competitive field of mortgage brokering. The certification exams measure a core body of knowledge shared by competent professionals in the field.

General Mortgage Associate - NAMB's entry-level credential for individuals who want to demonstrate the minimum level of knowledge in the industry

Certified Residential Mortgage Specialist - NAMB's mid-level credential who want to commit to higher standards of professional practice

Certified Mortgage Consultant - NAMB's most advanced credential for mortgage professionals who want to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism

LENDING INTEGRITY CERTIFICATION

The Lending Integrity Seal of Approval is only awarded to mortgage originators who meet specific requirements. To earn the privilege to display the Seal, mortgage brokers and loan officers must:

* Be a NAMB and NEAMB member
* Hold a current license if required by state regulator
* Pass a national criminal background check
* Attend 6 hours (or equivalent) of professional development education and 2 hours (or equivalent) of ethics training each year
* Provide professional references
